Star Wars Miniatures
The Star Wars Miniatures collection offers a great board game that doesn't require too much time or space to play. The miniatures are also exactly the right size for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game, which I would highly recommend. The old roleplaying system was made by West End Games, which I haven't tried.

4 out of 5 stars Best way to improve on a game that had two previous versions!   March 23, 2008
1 out of 3 found this review helpful

This is the game I wanted when I heard Star Wars was heading for the D20 system. It eliminated the cumbersome skill set and streamlined combat to an almost elegant flow. I admit I was very skeptical after buying the TWO books that came before but the additions are well worth the purchase. Only downside is...I hate the book size. It's awkward at best and impossible to make decent character sheets from and it sticks out from the rest of the books in my collection. Maybe a selling point for them but a curse for any gamer who has a shelf dedicated to gaming books. All in all very pleased with the content, but please give me an adult sized book...

5 out of 5 stars Great format for a great RPG setting   February 17, 2008

I was hesitant to purchase the new Saga edition--thus it took me almost a year to do it. But I am more than satisfied with the layout and format.

Character generation is a breeze. But because it is simple does not mean that it limits the player's ability to customize the character to make him/her unique.

I could go on and on, but as a dedicated table top role-player for over 25 years, I'd say this one is at the top of the heap!

2 out of 5 stars Pretty book, but badly layed out   February 10, 2008

I love Star Wars, and I am a big fan of role playing games. I picked the book up because a group of friends were starting a game.

The system layed out in the book is not bad. It's D20 rules with a lot of the quirky 3.0 system rules straightened out (grapple is a lot easier for one).

The problem with this book (and most D&D books for that matter is the layout)..

HEY GUYS WRITING THESE THINGS - WOULD IT KILL YOU TO PUT ALL OF THE TABLES YOU NEED IN A CONVENIENT LOCATION? Or at least make information that pertains to generating and altering character stats stand out a little more? How about making the book more intuitive for play?

I didn't buy this so I could read it from cover to cover. No more than I would buy any reference book for that reason. You practically have to read the whole darn book before you can create a playable character. Put that info in the front. Let people play the system, and then refer to things deeper in the book as they go along and get more familiar.

It is a pretty book tho, all shiny and hard covered.

5 out of 5 stars Best Star Wars RPG EVER!   February 8, 2008
This is simply the best take to Star Wars RPG ever. Makes fun playing not only Jedi characters, but other classes as well, and achieves it without cutting down Jedi power. All player characters are simply powerful in this game, no matter their class. How they managed to do this without removing the threats posed by low-level enemies like stormtroopers is a mystery, but they did. The system has some flaws, that is true, some things are unclear, but definately this is a big step forward from the Revised Core Rulebook of the d20 system. Many options, much fun. Buy this, do not download a PDF - it is worth it.

4 out of 5 stars Easy to understand for first-timers   January 11, 2008

Ok, I got this for xmas from my wife. I first just looked through it, not really reading it and it looked kinda complex. I had started reading it and at first the rules didnt really seem to go together. As I got through the book though and made a couple characters to test everything it kade alot more sence. Another thing I like about the game is the website for the game, there are alot of resources for the game. In particular the message boards, if you have a question, you will get an answer. All and all, Id say this is an excelent book. I would have given it a 5 star but you need to by expansions like the starship one right now to get more info on ships. I think there is a total of maybe 12 ships in there right now in the saga edition.

Wat Tambor & Droid Reinforcements
Maybe I'm having a brain fart, but do you have to follow the normal squad building rules when bring in the non-unique droids for this SA? It doesn't say from any faction, so I'm assuming you must follow the normal faction rules.

Female Minis Players
Out of curiosity how many girls do you guys have in your Minis Group. My LGS has two that shows up for tourneys on a regular basis, myself and another. Also how do the gals do in your events? Are they frequent attendees and what do they play?

I had a dream, it was weird.
I had a dream last night. It went like this: I went to my LGS and bought a pack, I don't remember what it was, but I remember being sad about what I pulled. Until I opened the cards and there was a letter from Rob in there. It said "congratulations, you've won a tour of the factory and you also...

All right I know this might in the wrong spot but I really need to know where I can get the Clone Wars map and the KOTOR promo maps... Also can someone post a pic of the CW map? Thank you in advance. Oh and My LGS didn't have the right poster map for KOTAR :( So any help would be great!

House rules for melee
Please let me know if this thread belongs in a different forum (customs perhaps?)... Would like to hear what folks are using for house rules to help melee out. I know a lot of folks generally agree that melee is underpowered in the game, and I happen to be one of them (and yes I know a lot of...

Vong able to go into any army?
Can't remember where I saw this notion but somewhere it was suggested that the Vong could act as Fringe and be added to any army. Was this just an "idea" or something that's actually done in tournaments and whatnot? Personally I find the Vong near unplayable in any effective manner, but if they...

Oddball's CE
So, Oddball's CE says: Allied characters with Pilot gain Grenades 20 and Penetration 20. Does this mean that a Shistavanen Pilot does not benefit from his CE, because he does not have the Pilot ability? I'm assuming that's the way it works (see Nym's CE for a similar example). The only thing...

Green Stuff?
Hello all you costomizers out there, I was wondering what "green stuff's" official name was? And also, pretty much how to use it to sculpt minis or mini parts? Thanks. :D

Looking for checklists
I seem to have misplaced some checklists and wondered if there's anywhere or anyone that could help me out? I'm missing Force Unleashed, Bounty Hunters and Champions of the Force.
